Sexuality and Gender Diversity

The Sexuality and Gender Diversity liaison officer works to build understanding, trust, and communication between the community and police through involvement in committees, commissions, and agencies that provide service to Calgary's gay/lesbian community. The liaison officer also acts as co-chair of the Sexuality and Gender Diversity Chiefs of Police Advisory Committee.

Through this portfolio, police have become more aware of events taking place in Calgary's gay/lesbian communities. Police involvement in high profile gay and lesbian community events has helped improve communication and strengthened relationships with the community.

The Calgary Police Service recruits from all diverse communities, including the gay/lesbian community. To learn more about a career in policing visit the Recruiting Unit.
